Food blogs

The Times Online has a story titled "50 of the World's Best Food Blogs"
I've been clicking through it, being familiar with a few of them, but I have also found a slew of new blogs to add to my own list and to click on when I'm looking for something to read. (Wow, can you say run-on sentence?)

Interesting stuff... check it out for yourself.
Orangette starts off the list at Number One...

A new magazine

I'm curious about this new magazine that's just come out.
Here's what they have to say about themselves -

"Delight Gluten Free is a NEW fun food & lifestyle magazine for people with Celiac Disease, gluten intolerance and food allergies. It hosts not only delicious gourmet recipes but easy semi-homemade as well. Plus - don't miss the Gluten-Free Meals on a Budget. Whatever your food allergy, you should be able to find something that fits your household. In their February issue they offer gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, egg-free, soy-free and even some rice-free recipes. Not only that, DGF magazine will have a travel section coming in May, hosting lots of fun ideas and good advice for when you head out on the road. Personal stories, inspiring articles on Autism, Q & A with the Doc are among the many other features of this new venture."

Well, I don't NEED it per say, but I really, REALLY want it.
It would just make baking SO much easier, now wouldn't it?

TC Boyle

Last night I went to hear/see TC Boyle speak at the 92nd Street Y about his new book "The Women". I went with John and Gina (pictured below), because they are the people responsible for me even knowing who TC Boyle is... I am forever grateful.

Today at work...

...we had to shoot women's bikinis.

While I was making adjustments, Amy fired the camera. I wasn't paying attention.

In this shot, at least I got a chance to pose...

Yourself in six words

Powell's Books, an independent book seller out of Portland, OR, has a link on their site to a contest that asks - "If you had to convey your entire existence in six words, what would you say?"

So? What would you say?

Help the little person

Cake Wrecks has got to be one of my favorite sites out there - it's HILARIOUSLY funny - So when I came across this most serious of posts, I couldn't let it go by without notice.

As per the folks at Cake Wrecks:

In August the Congress passed the CPSIA, a law making it tougher to sell toys and other children's items that contain lead - so obviously that's a good thing. However, as a result of this law any crafter or stay-at-home artisan who makes items for kids under 12-- from clothing to toys to school supplies - must have their items tested to the tune of $400-$4000 per item. Since most crafters cannot afford those kinds of fees, this means tens of thousands of stay-at-home moms and small home-based businesses may be forced out of business come February 10, the official "mandatory compliance" date set by the law.

You can read the rest of this story by clicking here.
You can also read more about how you can help here.

Considering our country's current financial crisis, it doesn't seem fair to shutter these small businesses and put them out to pasture... In fact, I find it ridiculous.
Please do whatever you can to help. We only have until 10 February to make ourselves heard.

Thanks so much.
